SC 139 / SCI 139 Introductory Biology:  Animals & Plants SP                  3 s.h.

A phylogenetic approach to plant and animal groups,
both living and extinct, using representative fossils
and live specimens when available. An understanding
of the inter-relationships between and among plant
and animal species is complemented by topics from
comparative anatomy and physiology. The course integrates
observation, interpretation and library research
by means of written laboratory reports and investigation
into scientific literature. Included are dissections and
micro-anatomy of representative invertebrates, vertebrates,
and plants, field collection, identification, and
study of plants and animals of biologic interest. Hours
