Sara's Poetry Pages - Sara McDarby

  Some mornings

There are some mornings

                when I know

that I'm doing everything wrong.

        I watch you crawling around,

pick up a toy

                throw it behind you

and I wonder                what mistakes

        will I make
                        have I made?

You look so perfect,

                        happy,

                                        complete.

I want a guarantee
                        it'll stay that way.

Maybe I'm just getting
                a headstart on guilt

        I feel such unreasonable
                and total responsibility.

Can I really blame myself

                for everything?
