  Words

Where do the words go

that slip through your lips          even while you know

they don't belong out there?

they take form           and hang heavily          floating around you

even while you keep waiting for them to
              dissipate

but it's almost as if they have

a half life           and they'll only slowly fade away

after centuries of discomfort.

        Unsaid words

                      that should be said

have no half life,
          they whither away in moments

                  dried up           crumbling           in ashes

before disappearing with no hint of ever having existed
                  even in your heart.
